Blue Cod is also known as New Zealand Cod, is found more commonly in cold waters in South Island and Chatham Islands. These Blue Cods are bottom-dwelling fishes, endemic to New Zealand and usually caught in winter (April-September). The Cod has a firm, mild, delicate, and slightly sweet flavor. Moreover, its flake is soft and will turn into super white when cook. The Blue Cod fillet also provides a huge source of protein, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, vitamins (B12, B6, A, E, and C), and niacin. Additionally, it is a good source of phosphorus, potassium, selenium, and other trace minerals that help to prevent stokes, controls high blood pressure, against Alzheimer’s disease, and support heart health.
